"The Warmth Of Night" is a short observational film which follows the path of an unidentified protagonist walking through Manchester Central at night during the Christmas Season, with an emphasis on the Christmas Market. The goal of this film is to highlight the warmth and beauty the city after dark.

 

I chose to include a variety of different compositions in the cinematography to emphasise how important it is to look at life through different perspectives. Additionally, I chose to record all the footage hand held, without a tripod or gimble, to create a sense of rawness and humanity in each shot. The sound design has many layers, including background noise, foley, and instrumental, to create a textured atmosphere and immerse the viewer into the world created within this film.
